This is a special SEVEN…and I know a regular edition is due…but I had to respond to someone’s post, and figured I would share.
Let me take a stab at this misguided post…
African-Americans, Asians, and Mexicans – see Donald Trump – have traditionally been marginalized and depicted as less than the norm. So expressions of pride from any of the above groups are statements in reaction to and in dispute of that marginalization.
As for White pride, white is neither a city, a state, a region, a country, nor an ethnic group; it is simply a color. There are numerous reasons to be proud of being of Italian descent, of Irish descent, of Polish descent, etc. That’s absolutely great!!
Pride of being white, however, is diametrically opposed to the pride of being Italian, Irish, Polish, etc., by virtue of the fact that “white” denotes neither geography nor ethnicity. This is why some people have a problem with that.
(As for “Muslim pride =ok,” the originator of this post really fell off track there. Islam is a religion which has countless White people as followers.)
